ALICANTE – On the weekend of 5, 6 and 7 August, the Amata association organizes a craft market in the 1920s style. For three evenings, a nostalgic atmosphere is created in the La Marina urbanization in San Fulgencio, with live jazz and lots of swing, and all participants dress in the fashion of the 1920s.

San Fulgencio has more than eight thousand inhabitants and the majority live in the urbanization of La Marina, which has all the shops, bars and restaurants expected in a city with so many inhabitants. Held in the Parque de Puentes in Calle Francisco de Quevedo, the fair is aimed at a family audience, with many activities for children, workshops and demonstrations of crafts.

There will be a wide choice: ceramics, carvings, sculptures made of old iron, lamps made of pumpkins, traditional board games, fairies and elves, hand-woven items and jewelry in the most diverse materials: glass, macramé, leather, clay and pottery. And since they are all true craftsmen, they bring their tools with them and can take special orders if you can't find what you're looking for.

Various craftsmen demonstrate their skills in their stall and even invite you to participate, for example by spinning a bowl on the potter's wheel. You can see how murano glass is transformed into little critters or colorful jewels and the spinner explains the whole process of wool processing, from the sheep to the woven garment.

And all in a lively atmosphere, with jazz music from the Enrique Simón Trío, demonstrations and swing lessons from The Nest Swing Dance Studio, and for the children all kinds of workshops, storytelling, board games, painting masks and an old-fashioned merry-go-round. If you like real arts and crafts, jazz and/or swing, then you should not miss this event!

The market will be built on Calle Francisco de Quevedo and will be open at noon on Friday 5, Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August from 6pm to midnight. Parking is no problem in the wide streets around the market. On THIS WEBSITE you will find the full program and the exact location of the market.
