Travelling, the Spanish magazine from El Periódico, went in search of the European cities where the sun shines the most. Using data from World Weather Online, which counts the average number of hours of sunshine per month, they examined the sunniest urban travel destinations. The result? The definitive guide for travelers seeking that long-awaited sun. Alicante is number 1 and Murcia, Malaga, Valencia, Las Palmas and Granada have also reached the top.
1. Alicante, Spain
349 hours of sunshine per month
It's official: Alicante is the sunniest city in Europe! With an average of 349 hours of sunshine per month, Alicante is the perfect destination for sunbathers. The town is known for its beautiful Costa Blanca, which offers wide public beaches where you can sunbathe on the sand, jump in the water and try your hand at water sports. As if the sunny weather wasn't enough, Alicante is a beautiful city. With its colorful and bustling old town, wonderful museums, historic sites, a variety of excellent restaurants and vibrant nightlife, Alicante has something to offer every traveler.
2.Murcia, Spain
