MADRID - The tourist sector in Spain expects that around Easter in April 2022, the level of foreign holidaymakers coming to Spain will be back to the old pre-Covid level. According to Braintrust's 'barómetro turístico', 90% of all revenues generated by foreign tourists should also be feasible in Spain around Easter.

The tourism sector in Spain expect that around the Semana Santa period, which is in 2022 from April 10 to 17, Spain should reach the old level of international tourists again. The favorable evolution of the number of vaccinated persons in the main countries that supply tourists to Spain are creating a positive image in the Spanish tourism sector.

If we look at the figures for the first eight months of 2021, we see that 15 million foreign tourists came to Spain until the end of August. Of these, 996,975 came from the Netherlands and 734,807 from Belgium.

When will the 'Semana Santa' Easter week actually take place in Spain this year?

MADRID – No doubt as a Spain fan you have heard about it: the Semana Santa. It is a week of tradition, culture and emotion that can finally be celebrated normally again this year after two editions in 2020 and 2021 full of corona measures.

One of Spain's best known and most appreciated celebrations is Semana Santa in 2022, which will take place in 2022 between April 10 and 17, the week before Easter (Sunday 18 and Monday 19 April), so called Pascua in Spanish. Semana Santa literally means Holy Week but is also called Holy Week and consists of several days where there are processions almost all over Spain with lots of incense, melancholic music, drums and bells and many emotions, with crying people among the audience being no exception. But what is the Semana Santa actually and what does it consist of.

Throughout Holy Week (Semana Santa), dozens of processions are held in the streets of Malaga, Granada, Seville, Cádiz, Valladolid, Salamanca, Palencia, Zamora, Tarragona, Valencia and many other Spanish cities, among others. The Semana Santa processions take place all over Spain, but those of Andalusia are the most famous in the country (which does not mean that the other Semana Santa processions are less interesting of course)
