Fuengirola to stage the first Covid test concert with a standing audience in Andalucía
1 Jul 2021

Some 3,000 people will be able dance in front of the sea on the Costa del Sol without having to maintain a safe social distance during a concert on 25 July.

Marenostrum Fuengirola will be the first mass music event with a standing audience to be held in Andalucía. It will be test with health safety measures similar to those already successfully trialed in Love of Lesbian concert in Barcelona: and tickets will be linked to an antigen test that will be carried out on the same day as the event.

The organizers are preparing this anti-Covid 'stress test' for the festival that will feature Nina Kraviz on the Sohail Castle hill stage. It will be the first time that a mass analysis with antigen tests has been carried out on all those attending a musical event in Andalucía.

The proposal for the trial from the promoters of the festival, Bizkaya International Music Exposition (BIME), was accepted by the Junta de Andalucía after meetings with the Minister of Culture, Patricia Del Pozo, and the Minister of Health, Jesús Aguirre.

It is the first step in a more ambitious plan that aims to safely reach 33 per cent of the capacity of the Marenostrum arena with 6,000 people in the auditorium, double the number that will be allowed on 25 July, the litmus test.

When buying the tickets, those attending the concert must register all their data for possible tracking and reserve an appointment to take the antigen test on the same day of the event.

Entry to the concert will be linked to the coronavirus test result on the official app of the festival and you must show the QR code on your mobile on arrival. If it is positive, access to the arena will not be allowed. If it is negative, you will receive a color-coded FFP2 mask provided by the organizers and, after disinfecting your hands and stepping on disinfecting foot mats, you will be able to enter the venue. But not just anywhere.

The arena will be separated into three color-coded areas corresponding with the three colors of the masks (blue, white and black) that will function as bubble groups.

Each sector will have everything you need to enjoy the event without coming into contact with the other bubble groups, with its own entrance, toilets and eating and drinking areas. However neither food nor drink may be taken to the arena, where it will also be forbidden to lower the face mask.
