MADRID – If you want to travel to Spain for a well-deserved vacation and rent a car, you have probably noticed that the rental prices are much higher than before. There are several reasons for this, such as fewer cars being available while the number of reservations has increased after the pandemic. It is not uncommon for a car that cost 15 euros before the pandemic to now have to pay 30 euros or more.
The rental prices for rental cars in Spain have increased by at least 40% since 2019 and that is immediately noticeable when you want to rent a car in Spain. During the first two corona years 2020 and 2021, far fewer cars were rented out in Spain because people were not allowed to travel or because this was done much less.

Add to that other problems such as high fuel prices and the Ukraine war and the situation is not rosy for the rental sector, but also not for the customer who has to pay more for a rental car, if there is one.
According to the umbrella organization of car rental companies ANEVAL There are 94,000 rental cars in Spain that can be rented from 542 rental offices.
