MADRID - Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has confirmed that the anti-crisis measures taken by the government as a result of rising prices after Russia's invasion of Ukraine will be extended beyond June 30 until September 30. This also includes the 0.20 euro discount per liter of petrol and diesel in Spain.
The government is going to implement the anti-crisis measures extended by three months, Sanchez confirmed during the celebration of four years of government after the PSOE party won the Motion of No Confidence against the Rajoy government. The anti-crisis plan came into effect on March 29 a few months ago and lasted until June 30. But there are now three months up to and including 30 September.
According to Sánchez, the 'plan shock' is a temporary answer on the war in Ukraine and its financial consequences in Spain. Broadly speaking, that plan consists of five fundamental components: assistance to families; business support; cybersecurity; aid for the transport sector and energy measures.
It is true that with the anti-crisis plan several measures have been taken, the most striking and the measure that everyone has to deal with is that of 0.20 euros discount on every liter of petrol or diesel that you fill up at a Spanish gas station. This 0.20 euro discount is deducted from the refueled price at the checkout. At least that's the theory, but in practice this doesn't happen everywhere.
This means that all motorists and professionals such as in the transport sector will benefit from the 0.20 euro discount per liter of petrol and diesel throughout the summer. But unfortunately the prices of the fuel have risen to such an extent that this discount is almost unnoticeable (although without the discount it would be even more expensive to refuel).
