Spain is the fourth OECD country with the best work-life balance

MADRID - Spain is in fourth place when it comes to the right work-life balance, according to data from the 'better life index' survey of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). With a score of 8.4, Spain is one place higher than the Netherlands, which is in fifth place with a score of 8.3, while Belgium is in 10th place with a score of 7.7.

To create the 'better life index' on which the rating based, the OECD experts took into account the average number of working hours and the time residents spend on leisure and personal care in each OECD country.

From the latest data Italy ranks first in the OECD's Better Life Index with a score of 9.4 for best work-life balance. Denmark is second on the list with a score of 8.6 followed by Norway with a score of 8.5. Spain then comes in fourth place with a score of 8.4, followed by the Netherlands in fifth place with a score of 8.3. After that, France (8.1), Sweden (8.1) and Germany (8) are on the list. Belgium has a score of 7.7 and is in number 10, just behind Russia (9).

In order to find the best work-life balance, the OECD looked at various factors such as housing, income, employment, community (society, education, environment, social engagement, health, life satisfaction and safety.
